The Canon EOS C400 is a versatile and powerful cinema camera built for cinema, live broadcast, and virtual production. 6K Full Frame BSI Sensor

The backside illuminated BSI sensor delivers 16 stops of dynamic range, organic colour reproduction, and a triple base ISO system at 800, 3200, and 12800 for low-noise performance in any lighting condition. As a result, the EOS C400 captures breathtaking footage with next-generation image quality and remarkable sensitivity from full daylight to extreme low light.

RF Mount and Lens System

The EOS C400 uses Canon’s RF Mount system for exceptional optical performance with RF lenses, including sophisticated image stabilisation, autofocus, and real-time metadata for VFX and XR workflows. The camera body also adapts to PL and EF mounts, giving you broad lens compatibility across different production setups.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with EOS iTR AF X

The updated autofocus system features Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with EOS iTR AF X for pin-sharp and ultra-responsive tracking. It covers face, eye, head, body, and animal subjects across the full sensor. Face-only recognition and customisable settings give you full control over your focus, ensuring it never slips during demanding shoots.

Professional Recording Formats and High Frame Rates

The EOS C400 records 12-bit Cinema RAW Light LT, ST, and HQ formats up to 6K 60P, as well as 4K 120P for high-speed shooting. Oversampled 4K 4:2:2 10-bit is available via XF-AVC and improved XF-AVC S and XF-HEVC S MP4 formats, all featuring detailed metadata and filename structures for streamlined post-production workflows.

Uncompromised Connectivity

On-body I/O includes 12G-SDI, 3G-SDI, 2x mini-XLR, Mic In, Remote, Timecode, LENS, and Genlock/SYNC/Return connections. Built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet enable real-time IP streaming via SRT and RTSP, plus remote control via XC Protocol. The Canon Multi-Function Shoe adds further expandability, and live multi-camera production is supported through Return Input, the RC-IP1000, and the Multi-Camera Control App.

Built for Virtual Production and the Future

Real-time metadata supports VP and VFX workflows with Unreal Engine and After Effects compatibility. Genlock and organic colour reproduction make the EOS C400 ideal for large LED volumes.
