The Samyang AF SERIES II 85mm F1.4 for Sony E stands out as the smallest (99.5mm/3.92in length) and lightest (509g/17.95oz weight) among all the large-aperture standard 85mm focal length lenses compatible with the Sony E mount.

The AF 85mm F1.4 E II (Large-Aperture Standard) lens offers a 28.9˚ angle of view for full-frame and 19.1˚ for APS-C. Additionally, it provides a bright maximum aperture of F1.4, which is highly favored by full-frame camera users. In particular, the lens achieves optimum resolution thanks to its optical design, which consists of 11 elements in 8 groups (4 HR and 1 ED). When combined with Sony’s full-frame image sensor, this lens delivers superior sharpness and contrast across the entire image.

With its precise and fast autofocus, the AF 85mm F1.4 E II tracks subjects with ease. Additionally, it operates quietly and smoothly when recording video. Samyang’s Linear STM (Stepping Motor) satisfies both photographers and videographers by providing more accurate and quieter control over the focusing lens groups.

The AF 85mm F1.4 E II uses a large-diameter aperture to produce smooth background blur, effectively separating the subject from the background. With its shallow depth of field, the lens adds drama to your shots. The 9 diaphragm blades create smooth and natural bokeh, producing light-splitting effects that enhance the image’s aesthetic.

Less Breathing for Shooting Video

Thanks to minimized focus breathing, the AF 85mm F1.4 E II results in little to no change in the angle of view when focusing, thus reducing screen shake. This proves particularly effective for video, where subjects move forward or backward or when you focus from the front or back.

Enhanced Usability with Custom Switch and Focus Hold Button

The lens features a custom switch that allows you to adjust the aperture by rotating the focus ring. You can also use the optional Lens Station to set the mode according to your preferences*.

Customizable Focus-Hold Button

Pressing and holding the focus-hold button locks the lens at the auto-focused distance. You can assign additional functions, such as Eye AF, to the focus-hold button through the camera’s Custom Key Settings menu.

With a minimum focal distance of just 0.85m (2.79ft), the lens is versatile enough to create a unique perspective close to the subject. This capability makes it easier to capture close-up and dramatic shots, whether you’re photographing food, portraits, or nature.

Weather-Sealing Design

The AF 85mm F1.4 E II has been carefully developed to enhance usability, considering both its design and the shooting environment. It features a micro-patterned rubber focus ring, offering a comfortable grip while ensuring weather-sealing protection against light rain, snow, and dust.
