The Sony SEL24F28G FE 24mm F2.8 G Lens combines high image quality, natural bokeh, fast autofocus and a compact design. Its wide 24mm angle of view suits landscapes, street photography, everyday snapshots, mountain scenery, selfies and movie shooting. At only 162 g (5.8 oz), the lens stays easy to carry and works well with a gimbal or grip.

Three aspherical elements and one ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element deliver high resolution across the image while helping suppress colour fringing. The 7-blade circular aperture and controlled spherical aberration produce beautiful, natural G Lens bokeh. The aluminium finish on the lens body and hood adds a premium feel, while the compact design supports comfortable everyday shooting.

Fast AF and Close-Up Performance

Two linear motors provide fast, precise and quiet autofocus with strong tracking performance. This helps capture decisive moments in still photography and supports smooth movie shooting. The lens focuses as close as 24 cm (0.79 ft) in AF mode and 18 cm (0.59 ft) in MF mode, allowing close-up subjects to stand out against a blurred background.

The wide 24mm angle of view also suits selfie shooting with a gimbal or grip attached. Internal focusing keeps the lens length constant during focusing, making the lens comfortable to use for movie production and gimbal shooting.

Direct Creative Control

Linear Response MF provides a natural, direct response to focus ring movements for delicate manual focus adjustments. The focus hold button can be customised from the camera menu and assigned to functions such as Eye AF. A focus mode switch enables quick AF/MF changes depending on the shooting situation.

The aperture ring provides direct control for stills and movies. Switchable click stops provide tactile feedback for photography or smooth, quiet aperture adjustments for video. The lens accepts filters, including circular polarising filters for landscapes and ND filters for movies. Internal focusing keeps the front lens element from rotating during focusing.

The metal aluminium exterior adds strength and durability, while the dust- and moisture-resistant design supports reliable outdoor shooting. The SEL24F28G also forms part of a matching set of portable G Lens primes. These lenses share a similar external appearance, 49 mm filter diameter, compact design and layout. Their similar weight helps simplify gimbal rebalancing. On APS-C bodies, the lens provides a 36 mm equivalent focal length in the 35 mm full-frame format, making it suitable for snapshots, scenery and a wide range of everyday subjects.
