The Samyang AF 18mm F2.8 Full Frame Lens for Sony E-mount is optimized for portability, compactness, and ergonomic handling.

It represents Samyang’s fourth compact lens designed specifically for Sony mirrorless cameras, and it delivers impressive performance considering its size. Weighing just 5.12oz and measuring 1.99” in length, this lens stands as the most compact, lightweight, and affordable super-wide-angle full-frame lens for Sony E-mount.

The 18mm focal length offers a rectilinear 100.1° super-wide-angle view, making it particularly suitable for landscape, interior, architectural, and night sky photography. For Sony APS-C sensor cameras, the focal length becomes equivalent to 27mm with a 76.2° field of view, providing added versatility.

Optically, the lens consists of nine Ultra Multi-Coated elements in eight groups. These include eight specialized lens elements (3 Aspherical, 2 High Refractive Index, and 3 Extra-low Dispersion elements), which work together to minimize distortion and ensure high image sharpness, clarity, and contrast.

The internal focusing design of the Samyang AF 18mm lens utilizes a Stepless Motor (STM) for quiet, smooth, and precise autofocusing, reaching a minimum focus distance of 9.8”. This design also prevents changes in length and front element rotation, making it easier to use 58mm polarizing and other filters that require precise positioning.

Moreover, this compact wide-angle lens features a metal mount and a glass-strengthened composite material that reduces weight while boosting durability. Each lens comes with a removable petal-shaped hood, lens caps, and a custom-fitted case for added convenience.
