The Samyang AF SERIES II 50mm F1.4 for Sony E is the smallest (88.9mm/3.5in length) and lightest (420g/14.8oz weight) among all large-aperture standard 50mm focal length lenses compatible with the Sony E mount.

This AF 50mm F1.4 FE II lens offers a 45.7˚ angle of view for full-frame cameras and 31.1˚ for APS-C cameras. With its bright maximum aperture of F1.4, it is particularly favored by full-frame camera users. The optical design, which consists of 11 elements in 8 groups (2 Aspherical, 3 High Refractive Index, and 1 Extra-low Dispersion), ensures optimal resolution. When paired with Sony’s full-frame image sensor, the lens delivers superior sharpness and contrast across the entire image.

Reduced Focus Breathing for Video Shooting

This lens minimizes focus breathing, meaning there is little to no change in the angle of view while focusing. This feature reduces screen shake, making it particularly effective when shooting movies with subjects moving forward or backward, or when focusing from the front or back.

Enhanced Usability with Custom Switch and Focus Hold Button

The lens includes a custom switch that lets you adjust the aperture by rotating the focus ring. Additionally, using the optional Lens Station, you can set the mode to suit your preferences. Future firmware updates will offer even more customizable functions.

The customizable Focus-Hold Button allows you to lock the lens at the auto-focused distance by pressing and holding it. Furthermore, you can assign additional functions to the focus-hold button via the camera’s Custom Key Settings menu.

Short Minimum Focal Distance

The lens boasts a short minimum focal distance of just 0.40m (1.31ft), making it highly versatile. This feature allows you to capture unique perspectives close to the subject, ideal for close-up and dramatic shots of food, portraits, and nature.
