Samyang announces a new lineup of lenses specifically optimized for video content creators based on their unique needs. The new V-AF lineup is the world’s first series of lenses designed to make video content creation more convenient. The first lens in this new V-AF lineup is the V-AF 75mm T1.9. Additionally, Samyang plans to release four more lenses by the end of 2023. Let’s dive into the V-AF lineup, which is custom-designed for videography.

Unified Form Factor – Compact & Light

The V-AF series enhances compatibility with gimbals and drones by adopting unified form factors across its five different focal lengths (ranging from Ultra-Wide to Medium-Telephoto). With a compact size of 73 X 70mm and a weight of less than 300g, you won’t need to re-set your equipment when switching lenses, offering convenience and flexibility during shoots.

LED Indicator (Tally Lamp) – Excellent Usability

The lamp located on the front and mount index provides an easy way for users to check whether video recording is active while shooting. This feature improves usability, especially in smaller spaces where minimal equipment is preferred, making video content creation even more convenient.

Support 8K and Consistent Color Tone

The new V-AF series supports resolutions up to 8K in a small and lightweight design, making these lenses perfect for use with handheld gimbals, drones, and studio or location productions. Furthermore, all lenses in the V-AF series are color-matched, ensuring seamless transitions between lenses without any color shifts. Additionally, the 9 aperture blades produce natural-looking bokeh, enhancing the overall cinematic quality of your content.

Custom Switch & Button

The V-AF lenses feature the ‘Focus Save’ function, typically found in professional cine equipment, along with a custom mode that can be adjusted through firmware updates. These video-specific functions cater not only to professionals but also to students and amateur filmmakers aspiring to improve their cinematography skills.
