Alpha a6700 Mirrorless Camera

The Sony α6700 combines an advanced APS-C camera body with AI-based subject recognition, powerful autofocus, high-quality still imaging, and advanced 4K video features. Its Exmor R CMOS sensor delivers 26.0 effective megapixels, while the BIONZ XR image processor supports detailed images, natural gradations, and rich colors. The camera also supports Sony E-mount lenses, giving you flexibility for different shooting situations.

Advanced Image Performance

The 26.0-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor works with Sony image-processing technology to provide high sensitivity, resolution, and dynamic range. ISO settings from 100 to 32000 support shooting across a wide range of conditions, including indoor and low-light scenes. The 5-axis optical in-body image stabilization detects different types of camera shake and provides stabilization equivalent to a 5-step shutter-speed advantage.

The α6700 supports compressed and lossless compressed RAW capture. Lossless compressed RAW helps you capture more high-quality images during continuous bursts. JPEG and HEIF images can also use a Light image quality option that generates less data. The camera introduces 10-bit HEIF still-image capture for smooth gradations, helping reproduce skies and skin tones with reduced banding.

AI Autofocus and Tracking

The dedicated AI processing unit improves subject recognition and tracking. Real-time Recognition AF and Real-time Tracking help the camera follow a wide range of subjects. The system recognizes people, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains, and airplanes. For people and animals, the camera can recognize heads, bodies, eyes, and positions, helping maintain focus even when a subject faces away or wears sunglasses or a helmet.

The autofocus system provides up to 759 phase-detection points covering approximately 93% of the image area for still photography. The camera can focus down to EV -3.0 in AF-S mode under the specified conditions. Full-time DMF lets you rotate the lens focus ring to switch to manual focus instantly while using AF-C or AF-S. Focus bracketing can capture up to 299 images with sequentially shifted focus points.

Professional 4K Video

The α6700 records 4K video at up to 60p using Sony’s 6K oversampling technology. It also supports XAVC S-I All-Intra and XAVC HS formats with 10-bit 4:2:2 color sampling. High-frame-rate 4K recording reaches up to 120p, giving you more options for slow-motion and creative motion effects.

S-Cinetone provides Sony’s cinematic color science with warm color reproduction and natural skin tones. S-Log3 offers up to 14 stops of dynamic range for color grading. You can also import custom LUT files in .cube format and apply them to the camera’s monitor image while recording S-Log footage.

Active Mode provides image stabilization for handheld movie shooting. AI-based Auto Framing can automatically crop the frame to keep the subject in a prominent position. Focus Map helps visualize depth of field while recording, while focus peaking supports easier focus checking.

Flexible Shooting Experience

The α6700 features a 2.36-million-dot XGA OLED electronic viewfinder with approximately 1.07x magnification. Its finder frame rate can reach 120fps for smoother viewing when tracking moving subjects. The 3.0-type 1.03-million-dot touch-panel LCD provides flexible framing for handheld and gimbal shooting, including low-angle shots.

Creative Look provides 10 presets that you can use directly or adjust for different subjects and scenes. The camera also supports in-camera time-lapse creation, with intervals from 1 to 60 seconds. Smartphone connectivity through Sony’s Creators’ App supports photo and movie transfers and remote camera control. USB connectivity can also turn the camera into a 4K webcam with advanced AF functions.

The α6700 uses a durable magnesium-alloy chassis designed for demanding environments. Its low-vibration shutter is rated for more than 200,000 cycles. USB Power Delivery supports faster in-camera battery charging, while the USB Type-C port can connect to a compatible USB PD charger or portable battery for extended shooting.

The Sony α6700 is available as a camera body, with a 16-50mm Power Zoom Lens, with an 18-135mm Zoom Lens, or with a 16-50mm Power Zoom Lens.
