By combining AA (advanced aspherical) and aspherical lens elements, the lens achieves excellent corner-to-corner resolution and contrast throughout the zoom range.

Additionally, three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements and one Super ED element suppress chromatic aberration and color bleeding, resulting in sharp, revealing images.

Furthermore, the circular 9-blade aperture mechanism enhances exquisite full-frame bokeh and optimizes spherical aberration.

Eye-opening close-up performance
This lens is the world’s first zoom lens in its class to offer half-macro capability throughout the zoom range.

With a minimum focusing distance of 0.26 m at the wide end and 0.42 m at the telephoto end, it provides a maximum magnification of 0.5x throughout.

These new levels of zoom close-up capability offer unprecedented versatility, making it ideal for both still and movie shooting.

Fast autofocus matches high-speed bodies
Four of Sony’s original high-thrust XD linear motors work with precision floating focus groups, achieving extremely fast, accurate focus drive.

As a result, thrust efficiency improves dramatically, increasing autofocus speed by up to approximately 20% throughout the entire zoom range when shooting stills. The lens fully realizes the speed potential of high-performance α series bodies.

Moreover, focus tracking remains uninterrupted even while zooming, ensuring that you won’t miss important moments of the action.

Refined movie performance and imagery
Linear Response MF ensures that manual focus responds directly and linearly to subtle control adjustments.

The breathing compensation function, available in compatible α series bodies, reduces unwanted image shifts during focus adjustments.

Additionally, built-in optical image stabilization works in conjunction with in-body stabilization on compatible α series cameras to provide extremely smooth, stable handheld footage.

Top-class performance with teleconverters
The FE 70-200mm F4 Macro G OSS II is fully compatible with Sony’s 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters. The 2.0x teleconverter increases the maximum focal length, enabling you to shoot life-size 1:1 macro at all focal lengths, offering new creative possibilities.

With the 1.4x teleconverter, you can shoot a maximum of 0.7x macro at all focal lengths. Since the working distance remains unchanged when the teleconverter is attached, you can get close to the subject for truly impressive images.

Compact, mobile, reliable, and easy to use
This innovative lens offers an exceptional blend of performance and portability. It measures 82.2 mm (3-1/4 in.) in diameter and 149.0 mm (5-7/8 in.) in length at the wide end of the zoom range and weighs just 794 grams (28.1 oz.)* without the tripod mount.

The extending lens design maximizes portability, and the zoom lock switch prevents unwanted lens extension during transport.
