FR7 Full Frame PTZ Camera

The Sony ILME-FR7 is the world’s first PTZ camera to feature a full-frame sensor. It combines a 35mm back-illuminated CMOS sensor with approximately 10.3 effective megapixels and the BIONZ XR image processing engine. As a result, it delivers superb image quality with high sensitivity, smooth gradations, true-to-life color, and low noise — all in a pan, tilt, and zoom form factor.

Extraordinary Dynamic Range and Low Light

The FR7 offers 15+ stop latitude to protect highlights and shadows in any scene. In Cine EI mode, base sensitivity is selectable at ISO 800 or ISO 12800. In extreme low light, ISO expands to 409600 for clean and usable images. S-Log3 and S-Gamut3.Cine capture the full dynamic range of the sensor and simplify matching with other Cinema Line cameras in post. S-Cinetone also delivers cinematic images straight out of camera, with natural mid-tones, healthy-looking skin, soft colors, and gorgeous highlights.

4K 120fps and Professional Recording

The FR7 supports internal 4K 120fps recording for smooth 5x slow motion. It records to dual CFexpress Type A/SDXC slots at 10-bit 4:2:2 with All-Intra or Long-GOP compression, supporting Sony’s latest VPG400 CFexpress Type A cards for sustained high frame and high bitrate performance. Via HDMI and SDI outputs, it delivers clean 4K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit for Apple ProRes 422 or Avid DNxHR recording with compatible external recorders. The 12G-SDI BNC output supports 12G, 6G, 3G, and HD-SDI signals, plus RAW output with the appropriate setting. An optional SFP+ module also converts the SDI output to optical format for low-loss transfer over long distances.

Fast Hybrid AF and Smart Exposure

Fast Hybrid AF uses 627 selectable phase-detection AF points for reliable tracking in low light, shallow depth of field, and remote shooting. Real-time Eye AF keeps pinpoint eye focus automatically, even when the subject looks up or down at steep angles. The built-in electronic variable ND filter adjusts seamlessly from 1/4 to 1/128 remotely, keeping aperture and depth of field consistent. Breathing Compensation suppresses unwanted angle-of-view shifts during focus pulls with compatible lenses.

Full PTZ Control and Presets

The FR7 supports up to 100 camera position presets covering direction, zoom, and focus, recallable via the supplied infrared remote controller, the FR7 Web App, or the optional RM-IP500. Furthermore, the RM-IP500 allows up to 100 cameras — in 10 groups of 10 — to be operated remotely by a small number of staff. Tally lights support multi-camera productions, with a red light indicating the on-air camera and a green light indicating the camera in preview.

Connectivity and Audio

The FR7 features a 12G-SDI BNC output, HDMI Type A output with clean or status-overlaid options, dual CFexpress Type A/SDXC media slots, and an XLR 5-pin stereo connector for external microphones or audio devices receiving CH-1 and CH-2 via a single connector.
