The Sony SRG-A40 and SRG-A12 combine intelligent AI analytics with high-performance PTZ operation to deliver smooth, natural video tracking without constant operator intervention. The camera automatically detects and follows presenters using advanced pan, tilt and zoom movements while maintaining professional framing regardless of posture, movement or clothing. This automation allows production teams to focus on managing the event instead of manually controlling the camera.

AI-Powered PTZ Auto Framing

Built-in AI video analytics continuously detect and track presenters inside the frame. Sony’s advanced algorithm recognizes a person’s skeleton, head position and unique visual features, allowing reliable subject tracking even when multiple people appear on screen. The camera maintains natural framing while automatically adjusting pan, tilt and zoom movements for comfortable viewing.

The system also supports Lead Room Effect, which intelligently creates space in the direction a presenter is facing for more natural and professional compositions. Tracking Range allows Auto Framing to operate only within selected areas, while Fixed Angle Position temporarily locks the camera to a predefined view whenever a subject enters a specific zone before resuming tracking when they leave.

For group productions, Multi-person Framing automatically follows up to eight people by keeping both primary and secondary subjects within the frame. Face Registration enables priority tracking of registered presenters, while External Face Data Import (JPEG) speeds up setup and improves subject reacquisition after temporary tracking loss.

High-Speed PTZ Performance and Flexible Image Composition

Fast and accurate pan and tilt movements allow the camera to respond smoothly to presenter movements. PTZ Motion Sync ensures seamless transitions between preset positions, while up to 256 preset camera positions can be stored for instant recall during live productions.

Operators can remotely control framing through a web application using intuitive drag-and-drop adjustments for subject size and position. The camera supports 30 framing sizes ranging from full-body shots to closer close-ups, and composition can be modified at any time even while PTZ Auto Framing remains active.

The integrated wide-angle lens captures expansive scenes with approximately 70° coverage. The SRG-A40 provides up to 40x zoom in Full HD or 30x zoom in 4K using Clear Image Zoom, while the SRG-A12 offers a 12x optical zoom for flexible close-up and wide-angle shooting.

Professional Production Features

Auto Focus, Auto Exposure and Auto White Balance continuously optimize image quality without manual adjustments. Picture Freeze Preset allows the camera to output high-quality still images while simultaneously streaming 4K video.

Basketball Mode improves sports production by automatically tracking both players and the ball using AI analysis designed for fast and unpredictable movement. The built-in tally lamp clearly indicates camera status by displaying red during On Air operation and green when PTZ Auto Framing is active.
