XLR-H2 XLR Handle Unit For FX5

The Sony XLR-H2 XLR Handle Unit connects to the camera’s Multi Interface (MI) Shoe and adds professional audio capabilities to the Sony FX5. It supports 96 kHz/32-bit float recording, helping capture everything from quiet whispers to sudden loud sounds while reducing the need for precise gain adjustments. The unit also supports 4-channel audio recording, independent 32-bit float WAV files, and flexible post-production workflows.

Detailed 96 kHz Audio

Record ambient textures and subtle vocal details at sampling rates up to 96 kHz. When paired with a Hi-Res Audio-compatible microphone, the system can capture frequencies beyond 20 kHz. This adds more flexibility during post-production and helps preserve depth and realism in your recordings.

32-Bit Float Recording

The FX5 records with 32-bit float technology for a wide dynamic range and a lower risk of clipping. You can adjust audio levels during editing with greater flexibility, reducing the need for highly precise gain settings during recording. Dual ADCs use two analogue-to-digital converters with different gain levels to capture both subtle and loud sounds while preserving the full dynamic range in 32-bit float digital data.

Comfortable, Flexible Handling

The extended grip makes the handle comfortable to hold and easy to carry. It supports more comfortable camerawork in challenging situations, including low-position shooting. Three anti-rotation threaded holes allow secure accessory mounting, while an additional threaded hole supports a cold shoe.

Integrated Sony Workflow

Attach the XLR-H2 directly to the FX5’s Multi Interface (MI) Shoe to establish cable-free and battery-free power and audio connections. The unit supports Hi-Res Audio microphones, 96 kHz/32-bit float recording, and independent 32-bit float WAV recording for a flexible Sony ecosystem workflow.

Four-Channel Audio Control

Record four audio channels at the same time and send each microphone to independent tracks for flexible editing. Safety channels with different gain settings provide extra recording confidence. Flexible input assignment to CH1–CH4 gives you greater control over your audio setup. OL overload lamps on each input provide quick level monitoring, while LOW CUT and ATT switches and manual gain dials support intuitive control of each output channel.
