To begin with, two AA (advanced aspherical) elements and three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements work together to correct chromatic and spherical aberration.

As a result, this lens achieves remarkable optical performance from ultra-wide 20mm to 70mm. Moreover, a 9-blade circular aperture and optimally tuned spherical aberration further enhance deep, soft bokeh, contributing to stunning, memorable imagery.

Peak AF Performance for Stills and Movies

In addition, two XD (extreme dynamic) Linear Motors deliver high thrust for fast, quiet, and smooth focus drive. Consequently, improved thrust efficiency results in up to a 60% increase in AF speed.

Furthermore, tracking performance has doubled, ensuring reliable and precise subject tracking even at 30 fps for stills or during high-frame-rate movie capture.

The lens has also been optimized for quiet operation, thanks to XD Linear Motors and a newly developed aperture unit that significantly reduces noise and vibration. Importantly, it supports the breathing compensation function in compatible α series bodies.
