Super-Shield Kit

The Rycote Super-Shield Kit is a complete windshield and shock mounting system for shotgun microphones up to 300mm in length. It comes in three sizes and arrives ready to use out of the box. Additional pods can be purchased to suit a variety of microphones, adding versatility to the system.

Super-Shield Suspension

The Super-Shield Suspension uses patented Lyre technology to isolate the microphone from shocks and vibrations. The Lyre reduces handling noise with axial microphones without using rubbers or elastic and is the accepted broadcast industry standard. Two snap-in, pinch-release Lyre suspensions support microphones with shaft diameters from 19mm (3/4”) to 25mm (1”). You can slot them into any of six positions for balance and fit. The suspension also comes with an 18” (450mm) highly flexible microphone cable.

Super-Shield Windshield

The Super-Shield Windshield uses two pods attached to a central chassis. The pods are lightweight, durable baskets made from flexible gray plastic netting with screening material attached. A twist-lock system connects the windshield to the suspension chassis ring. When fitted, the windshield completely surrounds the microphone, connector and suspension. This creates a still volume of air around the microphone, providing excellent wind-noise reduction with minimal high-frequency loss.

The pods use the same laminated fabric as the classic Rycote Modular System. This helps minimize acoustic insertion loss and provides almost perfect transparency with effective calming of wind noise.

Synthetic Fur Windjammer

The Windjammer is a high-quality synthetic fur cover that provides excellent protection against extreme wind noise. The Super-Shield Windjammer is handmade in the UK from high-quality materials specially designed and manufactured for this purpose. It has very little detrimental effect on the high frequencies in captured audio.

The additional fur Windjammer provides performance approaching the Modular System with higher wind velocities. Its removable design adds the highest levels of wind-noise suppression.
