SELP1020G 10-20mm G Power Zoom

The Sony E PZ 10-20mm F4 G is a compact ultra-wide power zoom lens for APS-C cameras. At just 178 grams, it offers excellent mobility while covering a 15-30mm full-frame equivalent range. Its constant F4 aperture supports practical shutter speeds in low-light conditions.

The 10mm wide end delivers an extremely wide angle of view. It helps create dynamic perspectives that separate subjects from backgrounds and emphasise distance or speed in movies. The electronic power zoom system translates zoom ring movements directly into precise zoom operation, allowing creators to produce and repeat specific framing changes with control.

A continuously variable zoom lever supports smooth, super-slow constant-speed zooms and other movements that are difficult to achieve with manual zoom. Power zoom also helps reduce camera shake caused by operating a zoom ring, making it useful for solo shooters.

G Lens Image Quality

Three aspherical elements help control field curvature and astigmatism. An ED aspherical element and two ED glass elements help suppress chromatic aberration across the image area. Together, they support high resolution, natural colour, and strong contrast throughout the 10-20mm zoom range.

The advanced optical design also provides strong close-up performance. Autofocus can focus as close as 0.2m with up to 0.14x magnification. Manual focus reaches 0.13-0.17m with up to 0.18x magnification.

Smooth Movie Control

Internal zoom and focus keep the lens length constant during operation. This limits centre-of-gravity shifts and supports stable vlogging and gimbal-mounted shooting. Compatible camera bodies, accessory grips, and remote commanders can also control the zoom through assignable buttons and controls.

Advanced lens technology reduces focus breathing, focus shift, and axial shift during zooming. The lens also supports the breathing compensation function on compatible α series cameras to further reduce unwanted angle-of-view changes during focusing.

Linear Response MF provides direct, linear manual focus control. Focus ring rotation translates directly into the corresponding focus adjustment, giving precise control for rack focus effects. Two linear motors provide fast, quiet, low-vibration autofocus for both stills and movies, including high-frame-rate and 4K or 8K recording.

A focus mode switch enables quick AF/MF changes directly on the lens. The customisable focus hold button provides convenient access to assigned functions. Separate stepped focus and zoom rings make it easy to identify and operate each control by feel while monitoring the image.

The lens features a dust- and moisture-resistant design for added reliability during outdoor use in challenging conditions.
