The Sony SELP1635G FE PZ 16-35mm F4 G Lens combines a versatile wide-angle zoom range with a compact 353 g (12.5 oz) design. It is the world’s lightest full-frame F4 wide-angle power zoom lens, making it well suited to solo creators, small crews, gimbal shooting and everyday still photography.

The 16-35mm zoom range covers wide-angle scenes, while G Lens rendering delivers refined image quality and smooth bokeh. Two AA (Advanced Aspherical) elements, one standard aspherical element and one ED aspherical element help suppress distortion and aberration for sharp, clear images across the frame. One Super ED and one ED glass element help control chromatic aberration and colour bleeding for crisp contrast and natural rendering.

Smooth Power Zoom for Video

The power zoom system uses XD Linear Motors for smooth, responsive zoom control. A continuously variable zoom lever supports smooth constant-speed zooms, while compatible camera controls, remote commanders, accessory grips and the Imaging Edge Mobile application can provide remote zoom control when the camera is mounted on a gimbal.

Advanced lens technology helps reduce focus breathing and unwanted changes in angle of view during focusing and zooming. Compatible α series cameras can also use breathing compensation. The internal focus and zoom mechanisms keep the lens length constant, helping maintain consistent balance for comfortable handling and gimbal-mounted shooting.

Fast AF and Creative Control

Two XD Linear Motors deliver fast, precise and quiet autofocus with low vibration. The system can smoothly track subjects during high-frame-rate movie recording. With a compatible camera body, the lens also maintains accurate focus during continuous still shooting at up to 30 frames per second.

The lens focuses as close as 0.24 m (0.79 ft) and provides 0.23x maximum magnification, making it useful for tabletop photography throughout the zoom range. A 7-blade circular aperture and carefully controlled spherical aberration create smooth, deep G Lens bokeh.

Independent zoom, focus and aperture rings provide direct creative control. Linear Response MF gives manual focus a natural, direct response, while the customisable focus hold button provides quick access to a preferred function. The aperture click switch allows tactile control for stills or smooth, silent adjustment for movies. An iris lock switch helps prevent accidental movement between the [A] and F4–F22 settings. A fluorine coating on the front element repels water, oil and other contaminants and makes the surface easier to clean.
