Mitchell Base High Hat

The OConnor Standard Mitchell Base High Hat lets you mount your Mitchell base tripod head in locations where a conventional tripod simply cannot manage. Despite the unconventional mounting position, you retain full use of the tripod head’s pan and tilt functions. As a result, it gives you greater flexibility and creative freedom for challenging camera placements on any production.

Three Keyways for Faster Setup and Reliability

The high hat features three keyways, making it quicker to align the head’s locating key during setup. Furthermore, if one keyway becomes damaged on set, you can immediately switch to one of the other two and continue shooting without interruption. This redundancy gives you added confidence and reliability during demanding production schedules.

Easy Mounting for Long-Term and Temporary Use

Pre-drilled mounting holes in the high hat’s support feet make it easy to attach the high hat to structures for long-term projects. For temporary setups, high hats are often mounted to a platform such as a wood board or metal plate. This allows quick, secure, and temporary attachment to various surfaces. For high angle shots, the platform can be attached to a ladder. For low angle shots, the platform is typically weighted down with sandbags to provide increased stability during the shot.
