Description
Overview
The α mission empowers creators to realize their dreams, with the α1 representing its most powerful expression to date.
50 MP at 30 fps
Sony’s latest technology enables unprecedented speed and resolution, opening up new creative possibilities and workflows. The α1 offers an extraordinary combination of 50.1 megapixels and blazing speed, achieving continuous bursts of up to 30 fps with AF and AE tracking via the electronic shutter. This makes it perfect for fast-moving sports or any situation where the action is fleeting.
Blackout-Free for an Uninterrupted View
The α1 ensures a continuous, blackout-free view of your subject, allowing you to respond instantly. The EVF updates to minimize latency during continuous shooting, ensuring a smooth experience.
120 AF/AE Tracking Calculations per Second
Thanks to fast sensor readout, the α1 performs 120 AF/AE calculations per second, even during 30 fps bursts. This provides pinpoint AF tracking precision for fast-moving, erratic subjects, with AE latency reduced to less than 0.033 seconds.
Silent, Vibration-Free Shutter
The α1 features a silent electronic shutter, perfect for shooting in sports or other noise-sensitive environments. Vibration-free operation ensures high image quality, even in challenging conditions.
Anti-Distortion Shutter
Sony’s fast sensor readout minimizes still-image distortion, providing about 1.5x less distortion compared to the α9 II, thanks to the BIONZ XR™ engine and large buffer.
Flicker-Free Electronic & Mechanical Shutters
The α1 introduces another world-first: flicker-free electronic and mechanical shutters. This feature eliminates flicker during shooting under fluorescent or artificial lighting, while retaining all the advantages of the electronic shutter.
Full-Frame Stacked 50.1 MP Exmor RS™ CMOS Sensor with Integral Memory
This back-illuminated sensor with stacked architecture ensures high resolution and speed. Separate pixel and circuit layers, along with advanced A/D conversion, enable faster processing.
All-New BIONZ XR Image Processing Engine
The advanced BIONZ XR engine offers 8x greater processing power, delivering outstanding image quality and improving camera interface response.
Advanced Flash Features for Broader Expression
For the first time in an α camera, electronic shutter flash sync is possible, thanks to the stacked CMOS sensor’s high readout speed. All the benefits of the electronic shutter remain available during flash shooting.
Dual-Driven Shutter Drive for Flash Sync Up to 1/400 Sec
Sony introduces the world’s first dual-driven shutter system, enabling flash sync up to 1/400 sec. This feature enhances the ability to capture dynamic action and unlocks new creative possibilities.
Breathtaking Resolution and Image Quality
The α1’s 50.1 MP Exmor RS CMOS sensor delivers impressive resolution and sensitivity, while maintaining low noise. Achieve up to 15 stops of dynamic range, with improved color accuracy, thanks to the new image processing engine.
Wide ISO Sensitivity Range
Despite the high pixel count, the back-illuminated structure with gapless on-chip lenses offers a standard ISO range of 100–32000, expandable to ISO 50–102400, ensuring high-quality results even in low-light conditions.
Pixel Shift Multi Shooting
With precise in-body image stabilization, up to 16 images can be combined to create photos with up to 199 million pixels, offering exceptional resolution, color, and atmosphere.
Creative Look for Varied Expression
The Creative Look feature provides 10 presets, allowing creators to fine-tune the mood of their stills or movies in-camera. You can also edit these presets to create unique visual styles.
5-Axis Optical In-Body Image Stabilization
The α1 uses a precision stabilization unit and gyro sensors, delivering a 5.5-step shutter speed advantage. This maximizes the quality of high-resolution images, even in challenging shooting conditions.
Unrivaled Autofocus Performance Real-Time Eye AF for Birds
With advanced subject recognition, the α1’s Real-Time Eye AF tracks and focuses on bird eyes, even as the bird takes flight or the framing changes. This feature addresses the challenges of bird photography effortlessly.
Improved Real-Time Eye AF for Animals
Designed for cats and dogs, this feature ensures reliable tracking and focusing on animal eyes, even if the animal’s face is upside down.
Real-Time Eye AF
Combining AI technology and Fast Hybrid AF algorithms, the α1 offers Real-Time Eye AF, with approximately 30% greater precision compared to the α9 II, ensuring accurate focus on human eyes.
Real-Time Tracking
Simply select your subject, half-press the shutter, and the camera will maintain focus automatically. Activate AF face/eye priority for seamless tracking of human, animal, or bird eyes.
Wide, Fast, Precise AF Tracking
The α1 features a focal plane phase-detection AF system, sensitive and fast enough for precise tracking. With 759 selectable phase-detection points covering about 92% of the image, the α1 ensures accuracy and speed.
