Description
FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II
High resolution rivals the best primes
Thanks to excellent contrast at high spatial frequencies, the lens ensures superb resolution even at F2.8. Specifically, two high-precision XA (extreme aspherical) elements, two ED (extra-low dispersion) glass elements, two Super ED glass elements, and a floating focus mechanism all work together to control chromatic aberration, astigmatism, distortion, and coma across all zoom and aperture settings.
Furthermore, Nano AR Coating II helps reduce flare and ghosting, providing outstanding clarity.
Stunning G Master bokeh
As a result of the advanced optical design and a new 11-blade aperture unit, exquisite F2.8 bokeh extends throughout the zoom range. Moreover, the precise control of spherical aberration during the design process, combined with careful optimization for each lens during manufacture, enhances the bokeh.
In addition, two XA elements with 0.01-micron precision effectively suppress onion ring bokeh. The minimum focusing distance is 0.21 meters at 24mm and 0.30 meters at 70mm, with a maximum magnification of 0.32x.
The most compact, lightweight, and versatile in its class
This lens is, therefore, the smallest and lightest F2.8 24-70mm zoom in its class, offering unprecedented flexibility and freedom. Weighing just 695 grams, it is 191 grams lighter than the previous model.
Furthermore, its length has been reduced by 16mm, and overall volume has decreased by about 18%. As a result of this impressive portability, it is an excellent choice for both professional and enthusiast stills or movie use in a wide range of situations.
Fast, precise AF and excellent response
Equipped with four of Sony’s original XD (extreme dynamic) Linear Motors, along with a floating focus mechanism and advanced lens control, this lens achieves high AF precision and approximately twice the tracking performance compared to the previous model.
Additionally, with a compatible body, it can shoot at up to 30 frames per second. Moreover, the new aperture unit contributes to high speed, enabling full AF tracking performance even when shooting with the aperture stopped down.
Movie features refined for visual creators
The latest lens design technology minimizes unwanted image shifts and angle of view variations, ensuring smooth and expressive movie imagery. As a result, XD Linear Motors enhance AF and tracking performance, enabling high frame rate recording for exquisite detail.
Furthermore, the lens includes independent focus and aperture rings, and Linear Response MF guarantees direct, linear focus ring response when focusing manually.
Excellent control and reliability in any environment
Thanks to an updated dust- and moisture-resistant design, this lens offers extra reliability for outdoor use in challenging conditions, while a fluorine coating keeps the front element clean.
Moreover, convenient operation of circular polarizing and variable ND filters (optional) is facilitated by a special opening in the supplied lens hood. In addition, two customizable focus hold buttons provide easy access and control when shooting in any orientation.
