The Sony SEL24F14GM FE 24mm F1.4 GM delivers consistently high resolution with a bright F1.4 maximum aperture. Two XA (extreme aspherical) elements support excellent corner-to-corner detail and help suppress sagittal flare for accurate reproduction of point light sources. Three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements help control axial and lateral chromatic aberration for clear, sharp images.

Clear Images in Challenging Light

Nano AR Coating suppresses internal reflections that can cause flare and ghosting. This helps maintain strong contrast and clarity across a wide range of shooting conditions. The optical design also reproduces point light sources naturally, making the lens well suited to scenes with stars and city lights at night.

Compact and Lightweight Design

The lens combines advanced optical performance with a compact design and a weight of just 445 grams (15.7 oz.). Its two XA elements help reduce the overall lens diameter, while the redesigned DDSSM (Direct Drive SSM) focus system supports the compact construction. Linear Response MF provides responsive manual focus control with focus changes that follow the rotation of the focus ring.

The dust and moisture resistant design supports reliable outdoor use. A rubberized focus ring improves handling in low temperatures, while the lens hood lock button helps prevent unwanted hood detachment during transport. A fluorine-coated front element resists fingerprints, dust, water, oil, and mud and makes cleaning easier.

Flexible Focus and Customization

The customizable focus hold button provides quick access to a secondary function assigned through the camera body menu. The focus mode switch allows quick selection between autofocus and manual focus to suit changing shooting conditions.
