Description

SEL135F18GM FE 135mm F1.8 GM Lens

Sony’s advanced optical technologies give this large-aperture 135mm prime lens outstanding resolution from corner to corner, even at F1.8. XA (extreme aspherical), Super ED (extra-low dispersion), and ED glass elements work together in an advanced optical design to correct aberrations. A floating focus system supports this optical design and helps maintain high resolution across the image area throughout the lens’s focus range.

The lens produces the smooth, natural bokeh associated with the G Master series. The extremely high surface precision of the XA elements, careful control of spherical aberration during both design and manufacturing, and an 11-blade circular aperture combine to create elegant bokeh that maximises the creative potential of the narrow depth of field available with a 135mm F1.8 lens.

One Super ED element and one ED element help compensate for axial chromatic aberration, which can affect large-aperture telephoto lenses. This configuration supports impressive sharpness and also helps minimise colour fringing that may appear in foreground and background bokeh.

Sony’s original Nano AR Coating suppresses internal reflections that can cause flare and ghosting. This helps maintain optimum contrast and clarity across a wide range of shooting conditions.

Fast, Precise Autofocus

Dual front and rear XD (extreme dynamic) linear motors provide fast, precise, and quiet autofocus with low vibration. The system helps maintain focus on moving portrait subjects, performers on stage, and other dynamic subjects with impressive speed, precision, and reliability.

The focus range limiter lets you restrict autofocus operation to a selected range to maximise AF speed and help prevent the lens from focusing on unwanted objects. The Far setting covers infinity to 1.5m and suits medium, head-and-shoulders, and full-length portraits. The Near setting covers 2m to 0.7m and suits close-ups of the face or extreme close-ups of details.

Professional Control and Handling

The focus ring features Linear Response MF for precise control and an immediate response during still photography and movie recording. Focus responds linearly to focus ring rotation, allowing the camera to follow operator input with a feel similar to a mechanically coupled system.

The aperture ring provides direct control for both stills and video. The Aperture Click switch lets you engage or disengage the click stops. Engaged click stops provide tactile feedback that helps photographers judge aperture adjustments by feel. When disengaged, the aperture ring moves smoothly and quietly for seamless, silent control during movie recording. A focus mode switch allows quick switching between AF and MF modes.

Customisable focus hold buttons sit on the side and top of the lens for easy access when shooting horizontally, vertically, or from other angles. You can assign AF and other functions to these buttons as required.

The lens barrel chassis uses durable, lightweight magnesium alloy. Its hardness helps maintain optical precision and reliability, while its low weight contributes to a lighter overall design. A dust- and moisture-resistant design supports reliable operation in challenging outdoor environments.
