Built for cinematic shooting, the Sony FX6 Full-Frame Cinema Camera combines a compact body with a highly sensitive full-frame sensor, fast processing, wide dynamic range, advanced autofocus, and professional recording features.

Full-Frame Image Performance

The back-illuminated full-frame Exmor R™ CMOS sensor delivers 10.2 effective megapixels, fast data readout, high sensitivity, and wide dynamic range. Its advanced color filter array improves color reproduction, while focal plane phase-detection AF supports precise and stable autofocus.

The 10.2-megapixel full-frame design provides low-noise performance across the sensitivity range. The expanded ISO range reaches up to 409600, while the camera offers a dynamic range of 15+ stops. This combination helps retain detail in highlights and produce natural images in very low light.

The BIONZ XR™ image-processing engine delivers fast real-time processing with low latency. It handles autofocus, image recognition, image quality adjustments, data transfer, the user interface, and other camera operations.

Cinematic Recording & Color

Record full-frame 4K (QFHD) video at up to 120fps with autofocus. The high-speed sensor readout and BIONZ XR processor enable full-pixel readout without binning for detailed 4K images. High frame rates support slow motion up to 5x slower than real time.

S-Cinetone™ produces natural skin tones and mid-range colors with gentle highlight roll-off. The HLG HDR picture profile supports the wide-gamut BT.2020 color space and direct HDR playback on compatible TVs. 10-bit recording delivers fine gradation and detailed imagery.

The FX6 supports internal 4K recording with 10-bit depth, 4:2:2 color sampling, and All-Intra compression. It also outputs 16-bit RAW data to an external recorder through SDI at 4096 x 2160 or 3840 x 2160, with frame rates including 120, 100, 59.94, 50, 29.97, 25, 24, and 23.98fps.

Professional Control & Workflow

The BIG6 Home screen places six key movie parameters in one view: FPS, ISO, shutter speed or angle, aperture or ND filter, look, and white balance. Fast Hybrid AF combines phase-detection and contrast-detection AF for smooth tracking, while AF Transition Speed and AF Subject Shift Sensitivity provide additional focus control.

Sony’s electronic Variable ND Filter adjusts continuously from 1/4 to 1/128ND. Manual or automatic control lets you manage exposure without changing depth of field or shutter angle.

The 3.5-inch 2.76-million-dot flexible LCD touch panel provides 1280 x 720 resolution and adjusts to different shooting angles. The Smart Grip offers customizable buttons, zoom and start/stop controls, plus a custom dial for iris or Variable ND Filter control. The Smart Handle adds XLR terminals, a microphone holder, digital MI Shoe, assignable controls, and multiple accessory mounting points.

For professional audio, the camera provides two independent XLR inputs on the handle and supports UWP series wireless microphones through the MI Shoe. Two CFexpress Type A-compatible media slots support CFexpress Type A as well as SDXC and SDHC cards with UHS-I and UHS-II speed classes.

The FX6 supports BP-U series batteries, including BP-U35, BP-U70, BP-U100, and BP-U60T. Proxy recording can capture low-bit-rate HD files alongside higher-bit-rate formats such as XAVC 4K, helping reduce computer load during editing and previewing.
