Meet the Samyang 85mm F1.4 MK2 High Speed Full Frame Lens, built on Samyang popular full-frame MF 85mm F1.4 lens. The MK2 version adds a refined design, weather sealing, smoother focusing, de-click aperture control, and a nine-blade circular aperture.

Updated Design and Weather Sealing

The MK2 lens features a sleek and ergonomic design with a rubberized micro-pattern focusing grip. Environmental seals around the lens mount help reduce moisture and rain drop infiltration during outdoor shooting. The updated components and fonts give the lens a modern and sophisticated appearance. Nikon F mount models do not include weather sealing.

Smooth Bokeh and Video Control

Nine rounded aperture blades create smooth, circular bokeh and help separate the subject from the background. When you stop down the aperture, the nine blades also produce clearly defined sun stars. For video, the de-click function lets you switch the silver ring from “Click” to “Free.” This allows smooth and continuous aperture adjustment between F-stops without fixed clicks, helping you control brightness with greater precision.

Sharp Full Frame Imaging

The optical design uses nine elements in seven groups, including one Hybrid Aspherical element and UMC anti reflective coatings. These features help maximize image quality and contrast, including when shooting at wide-open apertures. The F1.4 maximum aperture supports low-light performance and selective focus with smooth bokeh.

Precise Manual Focusing

Samyang refined the focusing mechanism with a smooth, well-damped long throw for precise follow focus during video work. The Internal Focus design keeps the lens length unchanged and prevents front element rotation. This makes it easier to use polarizer and other filters that require accurate positioning. The lens provides a 28.3° angle of view on full-frame cameras and approximately 17.7° on Canon APS-C sensor models.

The 85mm focal length, fast F1.4 aperture, selective focus, and smooth bokeh make this lens suited to portrait shooting. It comes with a removable and reversible lens hood and a soft lens pouch for convenient handling and storage.
