The Sony ILCE-1M2 Alpha A1 II Mirrorless Camera Body Only combines a 50.1MP full-frame Exmor RS™ image sensor, BIONZ XR™ image processing, AI-based subject recognition, fast autofocus, high-speed continuous shooting, and advanced connectivity. It supports up to 30 fps continuous shooting with full AF/AE tracking and records high-resolution 8K and 4K video.

High Resolution Performance

The 50.1MP full-frame Exmor RS™ image sensor works with the BIONZ XR™ image processing engine to process large volumes of image data in real time. The system delivers detailed images with a wide 15-stop dynamic range at lower sensitivities. APS-C shooting still provides 21MP resolution. Compressed, Uncompressed, and Lossless Compressed RAW options give you flexibility for different workflows.

AI Autofocus And Tracking

A dedicated AI processing unit improves subject recognition and Real-time Recognition AF+. Human pose estimation helps the camera recognize people even when faces become obscured, subjects wear sunglasses, or they face away from the camera. The camera also recognizes animals, birds, vehicles, and insects with improved accuracy. Animal recognition improves by approximately 30%, while bird recognition improves by 50%.

Fast Hybrid AF uses 759 phase-detection points covering 92% of the image sensor. AF tracking response offers Stable, Standard, and Responsive settings. AF precision reaches light levels as low as EV-4.0 in AF-S mode. Real-time Tracking can also use color, pattern, and spatial data to maintain subject acquisition when recognition AF does not identify the subject.

Fast Continuous Shooting

The Alpha A1 II can shoot at up to 30 fps with full AF/AE tracking at the full 50.1MP resolution. The camera performs up to 120 AF/AE calculations per second and provides blackout-free viewing for continuous framing. Pre-Capture records moments that happened before the shutter release, while Continuous Shooting Speed Boost can temporarily change the burst speed.

Its large buffer supports up to 159 JPEG images or 153 compressed RAW images in one continuous 30 fps burst. At 20 fps, it can capture up to 400 JPEG images. Selectable release lag modes also help photographers control shutter response for precise timing.

8K And 4K Video

The camera records 4K video at up to 120p and supports up to 5x slow motion playback. Full HD recording at 240 fps enables up to 10x slow motion at 24p. The camera also records 8K 4:2:2 10-bit XAVC HS footage with optional Full HD proxy recording. 4K recording supports XAVC HS, XAVC S, and XAVC S-I formats, while XAVC S-I recording reaches up to 600 Mbps.

The 8.6K oversampling process allows 4K footage to be cropped and edited from 8K source footage. Super 35mm recording uses 5.8K oversampling with full pixel readout and no pixel binning.

Smart Workflow And Connectivity

AI-based Auto Framing automatically adjusts the composition to keep the subject in a prominent position during movie recording. Users can control the start timing, subject size, and tracking speed. This feature suits interviews, music performances, cooking videos, and other applications.

Two media slots support CFexpress Type A and UHS-I or UHS-II SD cards. Files can record simultaneously to both cards or separate by file type and size. Relay mode automatically switches to the second card when the first card becomes full.

The supplied BC-ZD1 quick charger can charge two NP-FZ100 batteries at the same time in approximately 155 minutes when connected to an AC adapter with USB PD. Wired 2.5GBASE-T LAN supports data transfer up to 2.5 Gbps, while built-in Wi-Fi with 2×2 MIMO supports high-speed 5 GHz wireless communication. Files can transfer directly to a specified FTP server through wired or wireless LAN.
