PXW-Z200 4K Camcorder

The Sony PXW-Z200 1.0-type CMOS Sensor XDCAM Camcorder lets you shoot, record and stream in 4K HDR. It combines a 20x optical zoom, AI-powered Subject Recognition AF, built-in 2.4 GHz/5 GHz Wi-Fi, 12G-SDI and broadcast-friendly recording options.

4K HDR Image Quality

The 1.0-type Exmor RS stacked CMOS sensor features approximately 14.0 megapixels effective resolution. Its back-illuminated stacked design supports fast readout and strong low-light performance. Full-pixel readout and BIONZ XR image processing help capture fine textures and detail. The camera records up to 120fps in 4K and 240fps in FHD. 5K oversampling with full-pixel readout produces 4K 3840 x 2160 60p video.

BIONZ XR processing also supports faster autofocus, improved Auto Tracing White Balance (ATW), higher frame rates and noise reduction. The AI Processing Unit improves ATW accuracy in challenging lighting, including situations where a person stands in shadow.

AI Autofocus and Framing

The AI Processing Unit uses human form and posture data to recognize human subjects with high precision. The Fast Hybrid AF system provides 81% coverage and supports Subject Recognition AF and Real-time Tracking. It keeps recognized subjects in focus across the frame.

Auto Framing can automatically track a recognized human subject and adjust the framing to keep that person prominently positioned. From Ver. 2.0, Monitor & Control Ver. 2.3 allows manual adjustment of cropping and framing position, with up to 10 compositions available as presets.

20x Zoom and Stabilization

The 20x power zoom G Lens covers a 24–480 mm range in 35mm full-frame equivalent. Clear Image Zoom extends 4K recording to 30x, while Ver. 2.0 adds High Quality Digital Extender with Clear Image Zoom up to 60x in FHD. The lens offers maximum apertures of F2.8 at wide angle and F4.5 at telephoto, with quick, smooth and silent zoom operation.

Built-in image stabilization helps reduce camera shake. Active Mode combines optical and electronic stabilization for smoother handheld footage.

Flexible Recording and Connectivity

The Z200 supports 4K 120fps and FHD 240fps HFR recording. It can create 4x slow motion in 4K at 30p or 5x slow motion at 24p. Slow & Quick Motion supports up to 4K 120fps and FHD 240fps.

The Electronic Variable ND Filter adjusts from 1/4 to 1/128 ND using a dial. Auto ND can maintain optimum exposure when lighting changes. Base looks include S-Cinetone, ITU709, 709tone, HLG Live, HLG Mild and HLG Natural. You can adjust black, matrix and other parameters for color matching with Sony broadcast and Cinema Line cameras.

Recording formats include XAVC (MXF), XAVC S-I 10-bit 4:2:2 for 4K QFHD, XAVC HS-L H.265 and XAVC S-L H.264 with 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 Long GOP options. XAVC HS Proxy recording supports up to 16 Mbps alongside higher-bit-rate formats. From Ver. 2.0, MPEG HD422 is also supported.

Built-in 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi works with C3 Portal (paid) or XDCAM Pocket apps for direct streaming. Monitor & Control supports remote operation from a smartphone or tablet. Connectivity includes 12G, 6G, 3G Level A & B and HD SDI output, TC input/output, HDMI Type-A, USB Type-C, LAN, REMOTE and other connectors.

The camera records four audio channels through XLR inputs and the Multi Interface (MI) Shoe. Two channels offer direct level adjustment through audio dials. With the SMADP5 adapter, the UWP-D Series can provide audio capture.

Dual memory card slots support CFexpress Type A and SDXC cards. Record to two cards simultaneously or use relay recording. BP-U35, BP-U70 and BP-U100 lithium-ion batteries can be charged with the BCU1A or BC-U2A charger. A BP-U35 provides approximately 90 minutes of continuous operation. These batteries can also be used with the PXW-Z280, PXW-Z190, FX9 and FX6.

Accessibility Features

The screen reader can read menu screens aloud with user-selected volume and reading speed. The screen magnifier enlarges record, playback and menu screens according to the selected magnification ratio.
