The Tilta MB-T15 Mini Matte Box gives DSLR and mirrorless filmmakers a lightweight and practical way to protect lenses and improve image quality. Weighing only 140g (4.9oz), it helps reduce unwanted lens flare while supporting both professional 4×5.65 filters and circular screw-on filters. Its compact size makes it ideal for handheld camera rigs and gimbal setups.

Compact Design and Versatile Mounting

The Mini Matte Box features a compact clamp-on design that mounts directly to lenses with filter thread diameters up to 85mm using the included adapter rings. The kit includes 82mm, 77mm, 72mm, and 67mm adapter rings, while additional sizes are available separately. Built-in 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 threaded holes, along with cold shoe mounts, allow you to attach accessories such as LED lights and microphones. The lightweight construction helps maintain balance on compact camera rigs and gimbals.

Professional Filter Support

The front filter tray accepts one standard 4×5.65 filter for professional cinema workflows. The included adapter rings also feature internal threads that allow compatible circular screw-on filters to mount directly to the lens. You can combine the front filter slot with stackable circular filters for greater creative flexibility. The adjustable top French flag helps block unwanted light and minimizes lens flare in challenging lighting conditions.

Lens Support and Included Accessories

The included 15mm single rod adapter provides additional support for the matte box while helping stabilize heavier lenses. It does not support lenses with telescoping front elements. To reduce the risk of vignetting, Tilta recommends using focal lengths above 24mm on Super 35 cameras and above 35mm on full-frame cameras. The package includes the Mini Matte Box, adjustable top French flag, 15mm single rod support attachment, and four lens adapter rings.
