The Sony FE 100mm F2.8 G Master Tele-Macro Lens delivers up to 1.4x magnification for detailed close-up photography, or up to 2.8x magnification when paired with a compatible teleconverter. Its G Master resolution, refined bokeh, advanced optical stabilization, and macro-focused controls give photographers and filmmakers precise control when working with critical focus. Flowers, insects, textures, and other subjects can reveal details that are difficult to see with the naked eye.

Powerful Macro Magnification

The lens provides up to 1.4x magnification with a minimum focusing distance of 0.26 m (0.86 ft). This greater-than-1:1 magnification opens new creative possibilities for close-up photography, allowing you to capture fine details and textures with impressive clarity.

Teleconverter support increases magnification up to 2.8x. It also provides more working distance, making it easier to photograph subjects that are difficult to approach closely while leaving additional space for lighting.

G Master Resolution and Bokeh

The F2.8 aperture, two XA elements, two ED glass elements, and 11-blade aperture unit work together to produce refined G Master bokeh with minimal coloration. The optical design creates dimensional imagery while maintaining high image quality.

Two XA elements and two ED elements help suppress optical aberrations and maintain high resolution toward the edges of the image. A floating focus system helps minimize aberration changes at close focusing distances. Nano AR Coating II controls flare and ghosting for strong contrast and clear images.

Advanced Stabilization

The optical image stabilization system is designed for macro shooting, where precision is critical. Its control system improves angle, shift, and depth compensation for effective handheld stabilization. Compatible α bodies can also provide lens-body communication that enhances stabilization for stills and movies, including Active Mode.

Fast and Precise Autofocus

Four XD linear motors drive the floating focus group and provide up to 1.9x faster AF across a wide range in AF-S mode. The fast tracking system helps capture moving macro subjects, while the focus drive operates quietly for movie production. The system can also keep up with the 120 fps maximum shooting speed of the α9 III.

When precision matters, you can switch quickly to manual focus using the AF/MF switch and use focus magnification to refine focus. In DMF mode, sliding the focus ring switches between AF/MF and Full MF modes, with the latter providing distance and magnification scales suited to macro shooting.

Precise Manual Focus Control

Linear Response MF gives the focus ring a direct and linear response. The amount of focus change corresponds to the rotation of the ring, providing precise manual control. This also supports smooth and accurate manual focus adjustments during movie shooting.

Customizable focus hold buttons can maintain the current focus position while pressed. You can assign other functions to these buttons, including focus magnification for quick and accurate focus confirmation.

Built for Field Use

Silicone-gasketed buttons and switches, a rubber sealing ring around the lens mount, and additional protective measures help resist dust and moisture during demanding outdoor use. A fluorine coating on the front element repels contaminants and makes the lens easier to clean.
