The Matthews 20″ C-Stand with Sliding Leg is a classic and essential tool for any image maker on set. The term Century Stand, or C-Stand, goes back to the early days of motion picture production when large reflectors were used to bounce overhead sunlight onto stages and sets. Over the years, grips and gaffers developed these stands into one of the most versatile and widely used tools in professional production. This stand comes complete with a grip head and arm, making it ready to work straight out of the box.

Versatile and Space-Saving Design

The unique staggered leg design lets C-Stands nest closely together, so you can place multiple stands side by side on a crowded set without wasting space. The lower leg slides under many objects for tight positioning. The sliding leg also allows the stand to be used on stairs, off curbs, and on surfaces as high as a desk or countertop. Furthermore, the removable base for the risers makes disassembly for travel simple and easy, without the awkwardness typical of other manufacturers. Opening and closing is fast and easy.

Built for Secure and Reliable Performance

Serrated gobo heads ensure a strong bite and prevent side roll. The Aluminum Magic Gasket ensures the grip head stays engaged and the load does not sag during use. V-shaped brass brakes give strong 3-point contact for secure locking at any height. Stainless steel helicoil inserts in the riser castings add long-term durability. In addition, the stay-put T-handles do not fall out of the riser castings, and the knurled baby pin keeps whatever is mounted firmly in place throughout the shoot.
