The Sony α7 V is a full-frame hybrid mirrorless camera for photographers and filmmakers who demand the very best. Its 33MP partially stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor reads out 4.5x faster than the α7 IV, delivering a maximum shutter speed of 1/16000 sec., blackout-free bursts at up to 30fps with full AF/AE tracking, and 4K 120p video. Dynamic range reaches up to 16 stops with smooth, natural gradations. The BIONZ XR2 engine with integrated AI processing unit powers Real-time Recognition AF, Real-time Tracking and accurate colour reproduction throughout the ISO 100–51200 range.

Advanced Autofocus & Speed

A high-density 759-point phase-detection AF system covers ~94% of the image area with ~30% improved recognition over the α7 IV. Human pose estimation delivers reliable eye, body and head recognition even with challenging subjects. AF works down to EV-4.0 in AF-S mode. Touch Tracking lets you select any subject instantly on the monitor. Pre-Capture records from up to one second before the shutter is pressed, and one-button Continuous Shooting Speed Boost switches burst rates on the fly. Auto Framing keeps subjects prominent during movie recording automatically.

Professional Video & Stabilisation

Full pixel readout with no pixel binning compresses 3.3x the data required for 4K into detailed 4K 60p images. 4K 120p is also supported. S-Log3 with S-Gamut3 and S-Gamut3.Cine colour spaces, user LUT (.cube) support, Shot Marks and Dynamic Active Mode — adding ~30% more stabilisation than Active Mode — complete the video toolkit. The 5-axis optical stabilisation system delivers up to 7.5-step central and 6.5-step peripheral stabilisation for confident handheld shooting at any focal length.

Design, Connectivity & Durability

The α7 V features a durable magnesium alloy chassis with a six-screw mount for maximum rigidity. The 4-axis multi-angle 3.2″ 2.1M dot touch monitor rotates up to 270°. Two USB Type-C ports with USB PD offer 3–4x higher capacity than the α7 IV. PORT 1 supports SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps (USB 3.2) and PORT 2 supports Hi-Speed USB 480Mbps (USB 2.0). Built-in Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11ax) with 2×2 MIMO on 5GHz and 6GHz bands ensures fast, stable wireless transfers. Heat dissipation supports ~90 minutes of continuous 4K 60p recording.
