SEL200600G FE 200-600mm G OSS Lens

The Sony FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS Lens gives wildlife, sports, and other distant subjects a powerful reach with full G Lens image quality and autofocus performance. Compatible with optional 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters, it can reach 840mm or 1200mm. With the 1.4x teleconverter, the range becomes 280-840mm at F8-9. With the 2.0x teleconverter, the range becomes 400-1200mm at F11-13. Both teleconverters maintain outstanding image quality and AF performance.

Five ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements and one aspherical element work within an advanced optical design to deliver superb resolution throughout the zoom range. The aspherical element suppresses spherical aberration and distortion, while the ED elements help minimise chromatic aberration that can affect super-telephoto focal lengths.

An 11-blade circular aperture produces beautiful, natural G Lens bokeh. The narrow depth of field available at super-telephoto focal lengths can create striking images with deep, creamy background blur.

Optical Stabilisation and Fast Autofocus

Sony’s 3-mode Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation makes it easier to capture sharp handheld images at super-telephoto focal lengths. MODE 2 provides stabilisation suited to panning shots, while MODE 3 enhances viewfinder stabilisation to make framing erratic sports or wildlife movement easier. Compatible α bodies also provide 5-axis stabilisation.

The DDSSM (Direct Drive SSM) system delivers the power and precision needed for fast, accurate autofocus. High positioning accuracy helps ensure that no movement is wasted, while the system achieves pinpoint autofocus with impressive speed. DDSSM operation is also remarkably quiet.

A focus range limiter lets you select full-range autofocus or limit operation to 2.4-10m or 10m to infinity. Limiting the autofocus range can speed up focusing by preventing the lens from focusing on subjects outside the selected range.

Stable Operation and Professional Handling

The internal zoom mechanism keeps the lens length unchanged during zooming. This supports stable handheld shooting with consistent balance and also keeps the distance between the front element and the subject unchanged.

Three customisable focus hold buttons are positioned 90° apart for convenient access when shooting in horizontal orientation or in vertical orientation with the camera grip facing up or down. You can assign other functions to the buttons as required.

Linear Response MF provides a natural, linear manual focus response. Focus ring rotation translates directly into a corresponding change in focus, giving manual focusing an immediate and precise feel.

The front element features a fluorine coating that repels water, oil, and other contaminants. The coating also makes it easier to wipe away contaminants and fingerprints from the lens surface. A removable tripod mount allows quick switching between tripod and handheld shooting. You can also remove the mount for easier transport and storage, while a lock mechanism helps prevent accidental removal.
