Rotating Polarizer Filter

The Lindsey Optics Brilliant² Rota Pol fits 4×5.65-inch cinema matte boxes and provides smooth, reliable rotation of the included 138mm Brilliant-Pol Circular Polarizer. It offers an easy way to add a rotating polarizer, even when your matte box does not include a rotating filter stage. The filter inserts quickly, adjusts with ease, and works without interfering with rods on rod-mounted matte boxes.

Smooth Rotating Polarizer System

The filter uses a precision aluminum main gear that securely holds the 138mm circular polarizer. Internal Delrin™ rollers deliver smooth, slip-free movement, while dual aluminum thumb wheel gears allow quick manual adjustment. The thumb wheels feature standard 0.8 pitch gear teeth, making them compatible with motorized wireless remote systems. You can also attach a motor using the integrated 1/4″-20 threaded mounting point in the handle.

Large Clear Aperture with Circular Polarization

The included 138mm circular polarizer provides a generous 5.1-inch clear aperture, making it suitable for wide-angle lenses and large zoom lenses. The circular polarizer delivers 38% light transmission with approximately 1.5 stops of light reduction. Its construction combines a linear polarizer that reduces reflections with a quarter-wave plate that prevents unwanted cross polarization inside the camera and lens system.

Premium Optical Performance

The Brilliant-Pol Circular Polarizer uses Schott B270 water white optical glass with a broadband multi-layer anti-reflection coating. This design minimizes flare, ghosting, and stray light while improving image contrast and color saturation. The glass is ground and polished to maintain exceptional flatness, helping preserve image quality without introducing distortion or focus shifts, even when using long focal length lenses.

The filter effectively reduces reflections from glass, water, and other reflective surfaces. It also deepens blue skies and enhances overall color saturation by reducing unwanted micro-reflections throughout the scene.
